Discover California’s finest city, San Diego! San Diego is the eighth-largest city in America and boasts a mild climate year-round. Among the palm trees and sunshine, there is a lot to do and see! The question is, where to start? Not to worry, we have curated a list of places and experiences to help you pre-plan your San Diego adventure.

Horn Blower Cruises – Explore San Diego Harbor by Yacht Horn Blower Cruises, offers a myriad of different boat excursions. From romantic sunset sip and sail cruises to whale watching expeditions, this venue has something for everybody. No visit to San Diego is complete without a tour of the harbor. 

Balboa Park – Immerse yourself in San Diego history and culture at Balboa Park. This 1,200-acre park is home to the San Diego History Center and features 16 different museums, 20 beautiful botanic gardens, and The San Diego Zoo, to name a few. Choose your adventure and spend a day here! Balboa Park is the perfect place to unplug and unwind. 

USS Midway Museum – Welcome aboard the USS Midway, the longest-serving aircraft carrier of the 20th century! This museum ship has been a San Diego favorite since its opening in 2004. Tour the Carrier and learn about life at sea. The interior of the Midway has been virtually unchanged since 1992. Get up close and personal with military aircraft from WWII to the modern-day. Don’t forget to try your hand at the flight simulator and get a photo with Maverick! The USS Midway Museum is open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and has parking available right on the pier. 

Old Town San Diego – Discover historic Old Town, the first European settlement in California. Come hungry! This vibrant district is home to over 30 restaurants and is San Diego’s Mexican food destination. Walk off your food coma and check out the many historic sites, many of which are believed to be haunted. Old Town is open from 9:00 AM-9:00 PM

Harney Sushi – Standing out in a sea of Mexican restaurants in Old Town, Harney Sushi is your sushi source. Cool off with their mango-infused cold sake and enjoy 16 different specialty sushi rolls. Dine guilt-free, Harney Sushi is ocean friendly and opts out of using endangered fish on their menu.  Harney Sushi is open seven days a week from 4 to 10 PM. 

Top of the Market San Diego – Perched atop The Fish Market restaurant on the historic Tuna Warf awaits spacious bay views and delicious seafood. Enjoy a quiet evening out with a dash of Midway Magic. Top of the Market is San Diego’s home port for the contemporary seafood made with the freshest fish. Reservations are strongly encouraged; take-out is available. 

Pizza Port Brewing Co. – Your port call for pizza and beer. This chain is a California favorite! Try classic original pizzas or step out of the ordinary with one of their “anti-wimpy” pizzas. Beer lovers unite over their signature Stout Floats. That’s right: Ice cream and beer in a mug! Pizza Port is open from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM Sunday through Thursday, 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM Friday and Saturday. Take-out for food and beer is available. 

La Playa Taco Shop – Located in beautiful Mission Beach, this quaint taco shop is the perfect spot for a bite to eat after hitting the surf. Gorge on traditional Mexican favorites or spice up breakfast with a Mexican twist.  Lay Playa Taco Shop is open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM and Sundays from 8:30 AM to 7:30 PM. Outdoor dining and take-out are available. 

Island Prime – Resting on stilts in San Diego Bay is Island Prime. Get dinner underway with delicious seafood and steak compositions from a locally renowned chef, Deborah Scott. Spice up your special night with views to dine for! Island Prime is open from Wednesday and Thursday from 5:00 to 9:00 PM, Friday and Saturday from 5:00 to 10:00 PM, Sunday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Reservations are available and encouraged.

Crystal Pier Hotel and Cottages – Treat yourself to a unique lodging experience. Stay right over the ocean on a wooden pier built over the Pacific Beach. Fall asleep to the ocean’s waves crashing below you! Moreover, visitors have the choice of beautifully restored cottages or Hotel rooms from the 1920s. Step up to the pier and stay out of the ordinary.

Hotel Del Coronado – Hotel Del Coronado has been a southern California dream destination since 1888. The Del was the retreat of choice for many celebrities and historical figures. In 1958 this hotel served as the backdrop for the film “Some Like it Hot” starring Marilyn Monroe. This beautiful Victorian-style resort sits on the blissful white sand beaches of Coronado Island. This resort has beachfront terrace rooms perfect for lounging and capturing a picture-perfect sunset. Stay and play in old-school Hollywood style. 

Blue Sea Beach Hotel  – The Blue Sea Beach Hotel is located right on the sands of Pacific Beach. This Surfer Chic Hotel is the perfect retreat for families looking to catch some waves and rays.  Hotel Republic San Diego – Located right in the heart of downtown San Diego is the Hotel Republic, the perfect home away from home for those that want to stay close to the action. Each room boasts beautiful views of San Diego’s cityscape. Additionally, the Hotel Republic is steps away from the vibrant nightlife of Little Italy and the Gas Lamp Quarter. Paid parking is close to the property.
