This car was originally purchased in California by a Mr. Don Grosh of La Crescenta CA at the Colonial Honda dealership on May 8, 1979 for $4,499. It stayed in CA until 2000 when Don moved to Bend OR. Ben soon sold the car to a Mr. Mickey Flood and it was parked with a blown head gasket until 2010 when I purchased it with 137,000 miles
Once in AZ the car was completely taken apart and everything was cleaned and repaired or replaced as needed. The engine was completely rebuilt by Hooper Automotive in Tempe AZ. The carburetor and the distributor where rebuilt by Mark Allen out of CA a well know Honda parts collector and enthusiast. Mark also dissembled the cylinder head, cleaned and replaced worn items. The block was decked for flatness and the head was milled slightly for flatness as well. The water pump, all seals and belts were replaced with NOS Honda parts and the head gasket was replaced with a stock Honda Molybdenum coated type designed to allow the cast iron block and aluminum head heat and cool at different rates.
The suspension has been slightly upgraded with Eurothan bushings everywhere possible and aftermarket adjustable coil over shocks and adjustable perch springs. All brake components and fluids were replaced including rebuilt stock calipers, new rotors, new rear drums and shoes, all brake lines and a new master cylinder.
The undercarriage and wheel wells were sprayed with black sound deadening material reducing road noise inside the car. the exhaust system was replaced with an inline resonator or glass pack giving the car a stock sound at idle and slightly louder exhaust note under acceleration.
The fuel system was professionally cleaned and the fuel lines and pump were replaced. Multiple fuel filters are in use. The car starts easily with a manual choke and the correct start up procedures as displayed on the driver side visor.
Pick up at my home. Parking available for your car or I can deliver the car locally for a $50 fee
