Will my current insurance policy respond if I have a loss while renting my vehicle?

While we cannot speak to the language in all automobile policies, many policies contain an exclusion if the vehicle is being rented to another for a fee. When a vehicle is being rented through DriveShare, our insurance policy provides both liability and physical damage coverage for the vehicle for the entire rental period subject to the policy terms, conditions and exclusions. 

What if I rent my car and bypass DriveShare?

Renting your vehicle outside of our platform will not afford you any coverage under our policy.

What if the unthinkable happens, and the car is damaged?

The most we will pay for Loss to any one covered “auto” is the lesser of:  (1) The value of the damaged or stolen property as of the time of the “loss” as listed on the Hagerty DriveShare, LLC platform; or (2) The cost of repairing the damaged or stolen property with other property of like kind and quality.

How does the roadside service work?

DriveShare provides the most comprehensive roadside service on all vehicles while being rented. This roadside assistance is included with every rental at no cost to the owner or renter.  

 

This service is provided through Hagerty Roadside® and includes:

 

- Guaranteed flatbed towing with soft straps

- Dispatch operators who understand and care about classic cars

- 24 hours a day, 7 days a week coverage

- Dispatch for lockouts, battery jumps, tire changes & emergency fuel delivery

 

In the account settings section for owners, you can enter your desired drop off location for the vehicle.

 

Roadside assistance is covered by DriveShare during every rental period by calling 1-877-922-1702, prompt number 3. 

Who sets the insured value?

The vehicle’s insured value is set by the owner and agreed to by DriveShare prior to listing on the platform. Values are verified using the Hagerty Value Guide and top industry vehicle valuation tools.  In the event of a total loss, you will receive up to the value listed on the DriveShare platform. No depreciation. No messing around. No hassle. 

How does insurance work?

DriveShare has purchased a commercial auto policy that provides liability coverage for both bodily injury and property damage for the rental period. This coverage is subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions of the policy. Under this policy, the owners are afforded comprehensive and collision coverage up to the value listed on the website subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions of the policy.
