Growing up in Scotland I only ever thought of cars as a way from A to B. A depreciating asset to worry about. When I moved to California 10 years ago I got an early job doing social media for Galpin Motors out in Van Nuys. We spent our days interviewing hot rodders and car kooks of all kinds. I'd never realized how much cars could mean to people. What a point of pride and passion they could be.
At one point when my car was being serviced Galpin lent me a Mustang. I was hooked. Years later, I've finally had the chance to buy a classic of my own. I fell in love with the look and drive of the Jaguar Mark 2. It felt important to keep such a useable classic alive and on the roads. It always makes me happy when I see other classics on the roads. I love chatting to others about the cars they've chosen and what they mean to those people. It's such a cool and enduring aspect of California car culture.
