The Volkswagen Type 2, also known as the Transporter, Kombi, Samba, or Microbus which began gracing the roadway in 1950, within a short amount of time this vehicle grew in popularity in the United States highways. The popularity of the Transporter continued to grow and by 1964 was accounted for over 60% of all import vehicle sales.
The Transporter engine is in the rear, same as its sister VW Beetle (Type 1), air-cooled 4-cylinder box engine single port with 40HP 1493 cc.
The vehicle was an icon on the late 60’s due to its accessibility as a people mover, camper for families, hippies, and surfers.
I am the third owner of this vehicle, which was originally from Santa Rosa, California. The 13 window Deluxe walk through went through a complete restoration to original standards and colors as per the identification plate.
