This mid-size convertible is a stylish and confident example of one of Ford's classics. Fairlanes grew in size, weight and power over the years, making this car’s interior a spacious and comfortable space for many types of events. The red paintjob helps the car stand out in the crowd as well while the power provided by a 302 cu.in. V8 engine under the hood ensure it can keep up with modern day traffic.
The car is in nice condition with only some minor signs of wear since we use the vehicle regularly as part of our community outreach program. We love to share this car and its history with our community and hope you enjoy it as well!
Photo op and chauffeured option only - no driving. If you wish to use this car for a photoshoot at the museum instead of off-site, a discounted rate will be provided. If you wish to commercially publish a photograph of our cars, approval must be granted prior to publication from the California Automobile Museum and additional fees will apply.
OUR POLICIES:
Our outreach program is largely volunteer-managed. Rentals may not begin before 8am and must end by 10pm. The price is for up to 4 hours, including all driving time. Additional time may be requested for an additional price. Bookings should be made with at least 2 weeks advance notice.
This car may travel on the freeway, but only when safe to do so at low speeds (under 60mph). It may not be used if there is a forecast for rain, heavy fog, or other dangerous or damaging conditions. It may not drive further than a 20 mile radius from the California Automobile Museum (2200 Front Street, Sacramento), and if driving is to take place at night, it may not go further than an 8 miles radius from the museum. Driving in rush-hour or in a parade, especially in warm weather, may not be allowed due to the potential for overheating of the engine.
Please remember that this car is almost 70 years old, and is maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers. The museum may need to cancel on providing this car at any time for any reason, including but not limited to weather forecasts, mechanical difficulties, or other unforeseen circumstances. If there are mechanical difficulties, we will do our best to replace the use of this car with another outreach car from the museum (see our DriveShare garage for possible cars).
This car is part of the collection of the museum and we are dedicated to balancing its preservation needs while also being experienced and enjoyed by our community. To help preserve the vehicle, a volunteer or staff member from the museum will remain with the car for the entirety of the time for the rental. No actions may take place that may put the car at any additional risk. This may include, but is not limited to: sitting on the hood, fenders, or other body panels; when wearing clothing with beading, metal parts, or other features that could damage the paint, leaning on the car is prohibited; clothing with intensive beading, studs, etc. may not be worn on the upholstery without a barrier to protect the fabric; shoes are not allowed to be in contact with any part of the car except the running boards or floor and stiletto heels must be worn with caution.
