This is a 1974 Mercedes-Benz 450SL — the original R107, the one that started the whole love affair — wearing a special factory-order metallic blue over a matching blue leather interior, finished off with custom black-and-white coco mats for a little checker-flag personality at your feet. Its the kind of color combo you dont see at car shows, let alone on the street.

Shes a proper classic — over 50 years old and wearing it beautifully — but young enough to still play nice on a modern road trip. The drivetrain is crisp, the suspension is tight, the steering box stays true, and the brakes do exactly what brakes are supposed to do. The original Becker radio is still on the dash where it belongs (youll find yourself flipping it on just for the vibe), and the A/C was recently overhauled and blows the kind of cold that makes a July afternoon feel optional.

She also wears personalized plates that have a funny habit of getting smiles at red lights. Don’t be surprised when strangers wave.

This isnt transportation. Its a small, blue, beautifully built event. Drop the top, pick a coastline, and let the chrome bumpers and that creamy M117 V8 do the rest.

Shell be freshly washed with a full tank of premium 91 when you pick her up. Only ask: refill with 91 only on return — shes earned the good stuff.
