1980 Mercedes Benz 300SD Turbo Diesel Midnight Blue Classic
This 1980 Mercedes 300SD Turbo Diesel still turns heads with its original midnight blue paint that shines like it’s fresh off the lot. The light tan interior (Mercedes called it Palomino) gives it that unmistakable vintage luxury feel. There are a few dings and scrapes from its years on the road but it’s in incredible shape for its age and starts up every time. Before coming to the U.S. it served as a Customs Inspection vehicle in Germany and since then it’s had a second life appearing in films and photo shoots. Almost everything on it is original. The only quirks are a missing antenna which makes the radio a little fidgety and a driver side door that’s slightly less automatic than it used to be.
The 300SD was part of Mercedes Benz’s legendary W126 series, the first production car to feature a turbocharged diesel engine. Known for its reliability, quiet strength, and timeless design, it was the flagship sedan of its era, built for executives and diplomats who wanted both power and endurance. Nearly half a century later, this car still carries that same dignified presence. It isn’t just transportation, it’s a piece of automotive history that still drives like it has something to prove.
Pick-up will take place at my apartment, and renters are welcome to leave their personal vehicle here during the rental period. A short test drive and walkthrough are required before departure to ensure you’re familiar with the car’s vintage diesel operation. Pick-ups must be scheduled between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM—no earlier or later. Drivers must be 25 years or older with a valid driver’s license.
