The 1941 Oldsmobile 98 “Custom Cruiser” was the flagship model of the Oldsmobile division of General Motors in the 40s and the first car to feature the “Hydro-Matic” - the first truly automatic transmission. It features 60-inch-wide seats and a rear seat leg room of 39 ¼ inches, giving a comfortable seating capacity for six. The convertible top can be raised or lowered without leaving the driver’s seat by means of a vacuum mechanism operated by the engine and controlled from the dash. Ensuring a smooth ride, the suspension features coil springs all around, ride stabilizers front and rear, and double-action shock absorbers: an early example of what is still a standard today. Inside and out, the car drips with fabulous art deco styling, from the woodgrain dash, instrument panel, and clock inlaid glove compartment to the accented fender skirts, generous chrome trim, and intricate front grill. The acrylic hood ornament can even be lit up with your choice of accent color to add a special touch to your occasion!
