Available for your enjoyment is a pristine example of a nearly 100% stock truck showing only 35,000 original miles. The current owner recently purchased this short-bed pickup from a South Carolina family that had owned it since ordering it new in 1949.
The truck received a frame-off restoration some years back and is well cared for and maintained. Under the hood is none other than the famed Ford 'Flathead' V8 engine. The original 3-speed manual transmission is on the floor. Engine, drivetrain, electrical, brakes, and wheels have all been recently serviced by a vintage motors specialist, and the engine starts cold on 2-3 cranks of the original 6-volt positive ground battery-powered starter.
The exterior is finished in the correct shade of Chrome Yellow, as delivered from the factory more than 70 years ago. The beautiful wood bed is in excellent condition, and the correct 16" steel wheels with vintage Tornel tires give it the proper "workhorse" look.
All trim is in very presentable condition with some minimal accessory pieces, common owner additions for the time (e.g., the hood ornament). The interior maintains the overall stock factory appearance with a vinyl upholstered bench seat, matching headliner and visors, and gorgeous original dash gauges with the correct patina levels. The truck however does include three lap seat belts, which the owner thought prudent to install for the first time in this vehicle just last year (factory-installed seat belts were not available as an option until 1956).
The cab heater and radio were deleted during restoration and thus cannot be supplied.
Trucks like this in the original stock condition are hard to find before they get cut up or hot-rodded. A perfect truck for any outing or occasion!
