I think at the core of who I am I love adventures. And I, above all, value freedom. In fact, it is one of the reasons I originally purchased my truck. It was really in no shape to be driven at the time but it had the right look and it represented many things I believe are important. I love that particular Ford style more than anything else. It reminds me of a time of freedom and adventure.
I grew up around 4 wheel drive trucks, taking them on adventures and testing their limits. I am not necessarily still testing limits any longer but I wanted a solid 4x4 set up, which in my mind meant manual locking front hubs, (a reflection of ruggedness and reliability), as it represents the ability to go anywhere without worrying if the 4 wheel drive is going to break down. And, I wanted to be able to haul motorcycles and long pieces of lumber and all sorts of things so I wanted an 8’ bed. All of these represent a type of freedom for me as I want to go anywhere I desire to go, and haul motorcycles, camping equipment and other things that make the adventure all that much better to experience…while doing it in not only something very cool but also beautiful.
I have put 20k+ into the truck thus far and it has become an important part of our family culture as we have taken it on numerous fun trips.
It has been on professional photography adventures hauling the vintage motorcycles I own and providing a backdrop for fun, adventure and aesthetics. It, along with my vintage motorcycles and most excellent motorcycle trailer that I rebuilt, are simply reflections of myself. I love cool but useful vehicles as they remind me of a classic time in my history.
Still today, at 62, I go on adventures with my kids (all 7 of them), one of them being the professional adventure photographer mentioned above, and we use my motorcycles, my truck and also my trailer as a backdrop for things that we love for companies that understand the nature and importance of such things. It all represents a feeling of freedom and adventure and a simpler time. I thought that perhaps there are other people like myself out there who simply love these things and would like to preserve a bit of these ideals for themselves. That is my hope and my offer to people. Make some memories and keep them forever in photo stories that are important and meaningful not only to you but perhaps to your customers (where applicable)!
