I have enjoyed old cars for most of my life dating back to watching American Graffiti as a kid on TV in the late 1970s. I cruised El Camino Real in San Mateo in high school, and was fortunate enough to own several classic 60s cars at one time or another back in the 1980s. I street raced on rare occasions, and also raced at Fremont / Baylands Raceway a few times before it closed over 30 years ago. As I grew older the racing part of me quieted down, and I began to appreciate old cars more for their design and as representatives of bygone eras in time, and that is where I am focused today.
Currently, I only have the Red Rocket Bronco, which I have owned since 2009. The full story of the Red Rocket is told on another page, but in general I enjoy taking the car to local car shows, and cruise events, and often it is the only one of its type present, so it gets attention. It is fun to drive - for about two hours - and then the realities of manual steering, a 3-on-the-column manual transmission, no air conditioning, and 1970 era seats come into play, and, the fun lessens a bit, although for a worthy event I will drive it more than two hours.
In the future I hope to add another classic car or two, or three, with my eyes being on a Nash Metropolitan, a 55-57 Chevy coupe, and a 65-66 Mustang, among others. Time will tell. Happy motoring!
