While I wasn’t a VW enthusiast initially, one day I decided to purchase a VW, any VW, as they were fun, easy to repair and cost effective. I mentioned this to my neighbor who then responded with, “we have a really cool bus in our backyard with curved windows”. Not knowing what this meant, I Googled it and found that they had a 1960 23 Window bus in their backyard in a delapitated state. I bought that bus and while it was being restored, I came across a 1966 Westfalia that I ended up buying and restoring. The Westfalia was completed much sooner than the 23 Window and has provided me with some fun times. Then, I came across a 1966 VW Highroof, right hand drive Denmark postal bus with a Salesflap. Due to its rarity, I purchased this bus and it’s now on the tail end of its restoration. Over the past 10+ years, I’ve become a VW enthusiast but, not a VW purest, as I feel everyone should do what they want to they’re VW to make it their own.
I’m done buying VWs and, with two being done with the restoration process, I thought I would subscribe to a rental service, to help allow others to experience the thrill of a VW without owning one.
